Although renewable energy sources – particularly photovoltaics – have developed at an impressive pace, instead of reaping the full benefits of free and clean solar power, we are becoming… its hostages. Overproduction, a lack of grid flexibility, and an almost complete absence of energy storage mean that on the sunniest days, Poland’s power grid is cast into the shadows of its own success.

The sun shines, but electricity goes to waste
In May this year, renewable energy production was curtailed for 24 days, and in February, physical disconnections of photovoltaic panels occurred. For owners of home installations, this means tangible losses – inverters stop working when voltage exceeds 253 V. For PV farm owners – bureaucracy and compensation claims that are often symbolic in market value.

Why? The power grid is not prepared to handle such large volumes of variable, unpredictable energy. Coal power plants cannot be shut down quickly, and the lack of storage means that surplus energy simply disappears.

Neglected storage, missed opportunity
Although grid connection terms have been issued for over 27 GW of energy storage, only a fraction of this capacity is actually operational. Meanwhile, just 2.7 GW would be enough to stop the wave of PV shutdowns. For comparison – that’s less than 15% of the current installed PV capacity.

Worse yet, the dominance of PV over wind energy (21 GW vs. 11 GW) causes most surpluses to appear at the same sunny hours, instead of being distributed over time. For too long, Poland has focused on rapid capacity growth instead of a balanced energy mix and system flexibility.

PS7 – a new definition of local energy balance
In this context, PS7 is not just another gadget for monitoring consumption – it’s an intelligent system that redefines the philosophy of local energy management. Where the central system fails, PS7 gives back control and delivers real benefits.

Self-consumption optimization – energy stays at home
PS7 enables full synchronization of production and consumption so that rooftop energy is directed first to the household’s own devices – not the grid. Using advanced machine learning algorithms, the system predicts consumption patterns and suggests real-time adjustments. The result: fewer losses, more savings.

It’s a practical solution for prosumers who now struggle with automatic inverter shutdowns. PS7 helps them take back control and make use of every kilowatt-hour.

Smart cooperation with storage and electric cars
You don’t need a professional energy storage unit to benefit from PS7. The system also works with EV batteries, which have ten times more capacity than home batteries. This is a milestone toward Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) – a model where the car not only drives but also stabilizes the local energy system.

PS7 decides when to charge or discharge the battery, based on forecasts of production, consumption, and market prices. It’s not just smart management – it’s profitable.

Dynamic tariffs – profits through price flexibility
Dynamic tariffs are no longer experimental – they’re the future. With PS7, users can automatically adjust energy use to current market conditions. In practice: charge your battery or EV when prices are negative; sell surpluses when energy is expensive. The system makes decisions faster and more accurately than any human.

Local balancing – less grid load, more stability
Central management doesn’t work when thousands of installations across the country respond at different speeds. That’s why PS7 creates a local, smart mesh of energy points that balance power at the microregional level. This reduces pressure on the grid operator and helps avoid central disconnections – without any additional infrastructure investment.

New opportunities
Solutions like PS7 are no longer curiosities – they are becoming necessities. But also opportunities for new business models:

– Energy cooperatives can use PS7 for internal settlements and to increase the efficiency of shared production.
– PV farm investors gain a tool to prevent losses and improve grid integration.
– Municipalities and local governments can build local energy clusters with full autonomy and real savings for residents.

Energy is not just production – it’s smart management
In the face of climate change, geopolitical tensions, and economic pressure, energy efficiency can no longer be a luxury – it must become the standard. PS7 addresses this challenge by offering tangible value for both end-users and the entire energy system.

Instead of helplessly watching the sun waste PV potential, it’s time to act wisely – locally, flexibly, and digitally. With PS7, it’s possible.

Source: innpoland.pl

Polish energy is at a crossroads.
